For expecting parents, and the partners who want in
You have a registry to finish, a nursery to plan, and eleven tabs open about baby carriers. Every list says something different, and everyone online has a favorite.
This workshop is for the expecting parent who wants to get this one right before baby arrives. It’s also for the partner who wants to feel just as confident carrying baby as anyone else in the house, and who would love a way to bond that is all their own.
You don’t need any experience, and you don’t need a carrier. Come as you are, belly and all.
Why not wait until baby arrives?
Babywearing is 80% knowing your carrier and 20% negotiating with the baby going in it. The 80% can be learned now, while it’s calm. Have you ever had to learn a new skill while a baby screamed at you? I can tell you from personal experience, it's not fun. Anything that you can learn before baby arrives will save you so much stress later on.
A carrier won’t stop every cry; babies cry. But it lets you hold them for as long as they need without wearing yourself out, so you stay calm enough to help them regulate too.
Carriers are like jeans; everyone has a favorite, and the only way to find yours is to try a few on. In this workshop you’ll feel how different carriers fit your body, belly and all, before you choose one, which beats finding out after you’ve already bought it.
Partners, you get a head start too, and a way to bond with baby that’s all your own. Baby tucked in against your chest, listening to your heartbeat, is a pretty great way to get to know each other. You’ll try carriers on too, since the one that fits your partner might feel totally different on you, and you’ll practice alongside everyone else so nobody has to figure it out alone at 3am.
What you’ll leave with
Confidence putting on a carrier and getting baby in and out safely, practiced hands on with demo dolls
The safety basics, and what safe positioning looks like
A feel for the most popular carrier types, buckles and beyond, tried on your own body so your choice comes from experience, not an internet stranger’s opinion
A clear picture of how babywearing can help with the parts of postpartum life that tend to pile up: soothing a fussy baby, getting dinner made, leaving the house, contact naps, and bedtime
A way for both of you to feel capable, because you’ll practice together
How the two hours flow
Welcome: meet the group and share what you’re hoping to learn
Life with a newborn: how babywearing fits into the daily moments that come up after baby arrives
Carrier types and safety: a side by side look at the most popular carriers, plus safety basics for all of them
Hands on practice: try carriers on and practice with demo dolls, with help from me the whole way
Wrap up: questions, next steps, and where to find me after today
“I’m so glad we did this before our son was born! I used my sling in the hospital and felt really confident that I knew what I was doing. It was so sweet to get those early cuddles and wear him out of the hospital.”
“Thank you so much! I thought we’d register for a buckle carrier but after trying the wrap I’m going with that! Getting to try them all on was so fun and helpful!”
Meet Mollie
I’m Mollie, a certified babywearing educator, mom of 2, and the founder of Carried Close ATX. Babywearing became a lifeline when my second daughter was born, and when I went looking for in person support, I couldn’t find it. So I created it. I’m here to fill in the information gaps so you can choose what works for your body and your baby, judgment free, always.
Two hours now, one less thing to figure out later
Spots are limited so everyone gets hands on help. Reserve yours today, or message me with any questions; I’m happy to help.
